Project Description
- This project, which became a prototype and pilot project for the Marathon Wastewater System Design-Build Project, involved an expansion to the Little Venice Wastewater Collection System in Marathon, Florida. Construction conditions encountered were typical of South Florida and in particular the Florida Keys; including coral rock excavation, high groundwater, vacuum sewer systems, high-density neighborhoods, environmentally sensitive coastal areas, and limited construction access. Project Scope
- The work consisted of furnishing and installing a wastewater collection system of approximately 11,300 LF of vacuum sanitary sewer, 85 vacuum pits, and 1,600 LF of gravity sanitary sewer, in coralline rock soil conditions and tidally influenced groundwater.
